CODE OF CONDUCT

You must comply with this Code of Conduct in order to attend OppaiCon. Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in forfeiture of your badge, your immediate expulsion from OppaiCon, and/or termination of your position with OppaiCon. Where the Code of Conduct refers to “OppaiCon’s Written Consent,” such written consent may be provided in the form of a separate written vendor or sponsorship agreement, an artist agreement, a facility rental agreement, or another appropriate written agreement, permit, or documented authorization. Please note this event is strictly for attendees over the age of 21; therefore be prepared to show valid proof of age and government-issued identification at registration and when entering certain restricted programs or areas at OppaiCon.

We will only accept the following unexpired forms of identification: government-issued driver’s licenses, state identification cards, passports, or military identification. Expired forms of ID will not be accepted under any circumstances. Please wear your badge visibly at all times while on the premises during the event. The terms and conditions printed on your badge apply to you, and you are required to conduct yourself in accordance with those terms at all times.

Behavior

All OppaiCon attendees, guests, vendors, staff, and volunteers are expected to interact in a respectful and positive manner at all times. We are all here to enjoy ourselves and have a great time, so please use common sense and be courteous toward one another. To ensure a safe, secure, and pleasant environment for everyone, the following activities are not allowed at OppaiCon:

● Engaging in disruptive or unsafe behavior that disturbs or endangers attendees, guests, vendors, staff, or volunteers.
● Physical or verbal harassment of any attendees, guests, vendors, staff, or volunteers.
● Any activities deemed nuisances to the convention or convention premises, including excessive noise or generally disruptive conduct.
● Any act that could result in substantial risk or harm to people or property.
● Sexual misconduct, including indecent exposure, offensive touching, or sexual harassment.
● Use of laser pointers, laser-aiming devices, or similar devices in public, unless you are officially sanctioned to lead or present a convention seminar, workshop, display, or other convention-sanctioned event where a laser is required.
● Distribution of any literature without prior permission from OppaiCon.
● In the interest of respecting the rights of people who wish to be left alone, the following behaviors are unacceptable without the prior consent of the recipient: hugging, groping, back-slapping, kissing, or other unwanted physical contact. This also includes unwanted advances or other similar forms of behavior considered harassment.
● Engaging in any activity prohibited by law.

Prohibited Actions and Activities

The following, as such violations are determined in OppaiCon’s sole discretion, are not permitted at the event or its surrounding areas, including the parking lots, hotels, and structures: Assaulting, threatening, or otherwise behaving inappropriately toward another person, engaging in discriminating conduct of any nature whatsoever, making racial, religious, ethnic, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, or other slurs, bullying, and/or expressing any act of hatred or hostility toward another individual. Exhibiting lewd, offensive, or otherwise unacceptable behavior, such as profanity, obscene language or conduct, or intentionally exposing nipples or genitals, is prohibited. Photographs or video recordings may not be taken in restrooms, dressing rooms, or from any angle intended to expose or reveal a participant’s undergarments or any part of the body that is intentionally covered by a costume.

Conducting commercial or business transactions without OppaiCon’s prior written consent is forbidden, including, without limitation, selling food or beverages from unauthorized carts, stands, or ice chests inside or outside the event venue and hotel; soliciting money, contributions, or donations; distributing commercial advertising or promotional material of any kind, such as signs, flyers, cards, or offers of discounts on rides or other products or services; or offering samples of items that are sold, available for sale, or available in exchange for a donation or contribution.

Smoking / Vaping

NO smoking or vaping is permitted inside the convention center.

Other Activities

Possessing any open can, bottle, or other receptacle containing alcoholic beverages is prohibited, except in areas specifically designated for the consumption of alcohol and only when done in full compliance with OppaiCon’s Alcohol Policy. Possessing any illegal substance is strictly prohibited. OppaiCon DOES NOT tolerate illegal substances in or around the event and will take appropriate action if any are found. We do not allow any action that impedes the flow of foot traffic, creates a potential or actual hazardous condition, or is otherwise deemed to interfere with the safe operation of OppaiCon.

Individuals may be asked to move, stop, or discontinue their actions to maintain safety and order. For example, an attendee may be asked to relocate or terminate an activity to disperse a crowd that is impeding traffic flow. Any noise, music, or other audio that is disruptive to other attendees or to the operation of OppaiCon is not allowed and must be kept at a reasonable level.

No soliciting. For the safety and comfort of all attendees, the convention does not allow the use of roller skates, roller blades, hoverboards, skateboards, non-ADA scooters, or Segways on the premises.

Prohibited Items

  • Weapons (Please see our “Prop / Weapon Policy” for more info.)

  • Drones / UAV’s

  • Illegal Substances

  • Signs/Flags, if they are attached to a pole of any length and are used to solicit or incite any response. All other signs/flags are permitted.

  • Non-Service Live Animals

  • Helium and Mylar Balloons

  • Lasers or Similar Items

  • Coolers

  • Oversized Backpacks / Bags: No bags over the airplane carry-on size are permitted. As a point of reference, the size limit for a standard airplane carry-on is 22 x 14 x 9 inches. All bags, regardless of size, are subject to inspection at any time.

  • Motorized Vehicles (such as go-karts or battery-operated vehicles)

  • Wheeled Carts / Wagons

  • Confetti / Loose Glitter (Glitter used on your costumes is OK.)

  • Flammable Liquids

  • Open-Flame Use

PROP / WEAPON POLICY

Your participation in OppaiCon means that you agree to comply with this Prop/Weapon Policy. You further understand and agree that, for your own safety and the safety of everyone at OppaiCon, OppaiCon has the absolute and immediate discretion and right to inspect your costumes, prop weapons, and any other items you bring to the convention. We may temporarily or permanently remove any attendee, in our sole and absolute discretion, at any time for violating this Prop/Weapon Policy. OppaiCon also reserves the right to modify and/or update this policy at any time, in their sole discretion and without prior notice.

Prohibited Items:

No real weapons are allowed at OppaiCon! This ban includes firearms, knives, curios, relic or antique firearms, any form of ammunition, and any items designed or manufactured with the intent to cause death or serious bodily injury — whether carried openly or concealed — even if such weapons are inoperable or otherwise unusable, and regardless of whether you are licensed to possess them. Items that may otherwise be legal for you to own or carry are not welcome at OppaiCon if they violate this Prop / Weapon Policy.

The following items are not permitted:

  • All metal weapons

  • Firearms, ammunition, rifles, shotguns, handguns, blowguns, tasers, laser pointers, laser-aiming devices, or similar laser devices

  • Explosives, incendiary devices, chemical weapons, and pepper spray / mace

  • Knives, live blades/swords (including katana and other martial arts-style swords), daggers, sword canes, switchblades, bali-song (butterfly knife), axes, kunai, ice skates, and hatchets

  • Metal pole arms, wooden/metal bats, paddles, stilts, golf clubs, and vuvuzelas

  • Archery and hunting bows, arrows, nunchucks, brass knuckles, and whips

If you’re unsure whether an item is allowed, please contact OppaiCon staff before bringing it to the event. Violations of this policy may result in confiscation of the item, denial of entry, or removal from the premises.Buying Weapons at the Event

All prop or replica weapons purchased at the convention must remain sealed in their original packaging while on the convention premises. If you would like to use your prop or replica weapon at the event, you must submit the item to the designated “Weapons’ Check” booth for inspection and peace-bonding prior to use.

If a real weapon is purchased from a vendor at the convention, it must remain sealed in its original packaging while on convention premises. Any violation of this rule will result in immediate removal from the event.
